Finlay Black, a senior project manager at Robertson Northern, visited the school as part of its 'Week of Work', giving pupils there an insight into the skills used by professionals working in the construction sector – before providing an opportunity to get to grips with site surveying.

He was joined at the event by Amanda MacRitchie from architects Bracewell Stirling and Graham Bell of Compass Building.

After the event, Finlay said: "As a significant employer in the area, it is important for us to invest in our communities and this was a great way to help our young people as they get closer to entering the workplace.

"In giving pupils here a glimpse at one possible career option, and showing how the skills they have can be applied in so many different ways, hopefully we've given them a fantastic insight into the opportunities they can pursue."

During his visit, Finlay delved into the history of Robertson and its roots in Elgin, how it works with the communities it serves and its apprenticeship scheme.

Jade O'Hara, Young People's Champion at Robertson Northern, added: "The pupils were absolutely fantastic and it was great to be able to give them an idea of things that can be achieved in the local area."
