Infrastructure for a key renewable energy project

Robertson Civil Engineering is carrying out infrastructure work to create the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub being delivered in a joint venture between bp and Aberdeen City Council.

The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub will be a scalable green hydrogen production, storage and distribution facility powered by renewable energy.

Once operational, the hub will have the potential to deliver up to around 300 tonnes of green hydrogen a year through the initial phase of the project, enough to fuel 25 buses and a similar number of other fleet vehicles per day.

Robertson Civil Engineering is managing elements of the design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, initial energisation, and handover of the hydrogen production and refuelling station and associated infrastructure.

This includes:

• Hydrogen production and dispensing package, including electrolyser, compressor, storage capacity, station module, import facility and dispensers;

• Solar plant;

• HV cable connection between solar site and hydrogen production site, via underground cable;

• National grid connection to hydrogen site, including provision of local substation;

• Land acquisition;

• Local water supply and drainage;

• Civil works, including forecourt, access and fuelling bays; and

• Securing of all regulatory and environmental consents.
