Edinburgh Early Years centres
Get in touch
Summary
Robertson extended and refurbished five early years centres for the City of Edinburgh Council, to help meet the Scottish Government’s pledge to provide 1140 hours of free childcare to all families.
The work saw upgrades at the Nether Currie, Granton, St Mark's, St John Vianney and Craigentinny nurseries across the city of Edinburgh.
The projects were delivered by our Edinburgh- and Glasgow-based construction businesses, who stepped in to see these important education projects through to completion.

Extra childcare bringing wide-ranging benefits
Free childcare in Scotland has increased from 38 to 50 weeks per year (a total of 1,140 hours), for 3- to 5-year-olds and eligible 2-year-olds. These expanded and upgraded facilities support the growing evidence that a safe, nurturing environment outwith the home gives children extra chances to socialise, develop verbal skills and enjoy learning. There are also financial and health benefits for parents.
The projects have been delivered through the SCAPE Scotland framework.
