Summary
Construction of a new car showroom
The £9m Jaguar Land Rover showroom for Inchcape Estates Ltd in Chester features showrooms, office space, workshops and a parking roof deck.
To support the growth of its thriving business, Inchcape enlisted the expertise of Robertson to construct a new, 6,000m2 two-storey dealership featuring showrooms, office space, workshops and a parking roof deck.
The project comprised:
- steel frame;
- external cladding;
- curtain walling;
- planner glazing;
- internal partitioning;
- glazed screens; and
- ceramic floor finishes.
Demolition and external works to allow construction on an existing site
Before we could get started, we carried out demolition of the existing showroom and completed external works before progressing on with the new project.
This phase included:
- creating a new water scheme and well points on site to divert water;
- inserting cassette pits early in the project to secure watertightness around site;
- building special fenced trenches to stop badgers affecting nearby allotments;
- eradicating Japanese knotweed;
- decommissioning a large electrical cable from existing site.
Saving money and time for the customer
We look to help our customers and save them time, money and resources where we can. Although not originally requested by our customer, we identified that installing a new entrance to the site would reduce the construction programme, creating significant savings for the customer.
After production began on the Jaguar Land Rover showroom for Inchcape Estates in July of 2017, the 54-week programme was completed on schedule in the summer of 2018.
