Infrastructure to enable development

The project has constructed the infrastructure required by North Ayrshire Council to deliver their next phase of residential development. We made careful use of traffic management to ensure traffic flow and the safety of construction workers.

Unlocking the potential of Montgomerie Park

North Ayrshire Council has pledged to invest in infrastructure to accommodate hundreds of new homes to be built at Montgomerie Park. This involves the construction of a new roundabout on the B7080 Long Drive, which will open up access to the northern part of the area prior to the marketing of future housing sites.

The works also incorporate the construction of a new, 10,000m3 SUDS pond within the nearby Eglinton Park to handle the projected surface water run-off from the new housing and roads.

We built the roundabout on the centre line of a busy road, which was a considerable challenge when planning and implementing a traffic management system that would not have a negative effect on traffic flow.

Earthworks were carried out on the verges under the control of two-way traffic lights. During this phase, earth movement took place, the new access roads from the roundabout were formed and the SUDS pond was created. The traffic management procedure included an operative in attendance during peak hours to ensure safety.

Once the off-site works were completed, a road closure was used to install the asphalt surface and kerbing on the islands. As the roundabout is not offset from the road, the closure was necessary to protect the workforce and allow the works to be concluded.

A final traffic management stage was used to allow for whitelining, signage and other associated finishing works.
