Summary
Hotel bedrooms in a vibrant city location for a growing brand
Robertson was the main contractor on a project to construct a 243-room Moxy hotel at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) in Glasgow.
Hotel construction in parallel with events campus expansion
The hotel, along with a separate Courtyard by Mariott hotel, which Robertson also constructed, meets a demand for hotel rooms in Glasgow and at the Scottish Events Campus.
The SEC, which generates £400m for the Glasgow economy is planned to be expanded, to build on the growing importance of conferences, exhibitions and live entertainment to Glasgow city region. This follows the success of the SSE Hydro venue, opened in 2013, which increased demand for hotel rooms in the area.
Constructing hotels to build a brand
This three-star Moxy Hotel gives guests further choice, catering for a younger demographic.
The new hotels constructed in Glasgow increased accommodation options for delegates attending conferences at the Scottish Event Campus, in turn helping to boost the local and national economy.
Robertson has completed construction of other Moxy Hotels, also for Vastint Hospitality, as this brand expands in the UK:
- 181-bed Moxy hotel in Glasgow's Merchant City area;
- Moxy hotel at Aberdeen Airport, completed in November 2016;
- and a 194-bedroom Moxy hotel in Chester.
