Robertson Partnership Homes has commenced works at Dargavel Village
A total of 58 high-quality homes for social rent will be delivered in Dargavel Village by Robertson Partnership Homes, part of Robertson Residential Group, on behalf of Loretto Housing Association, part of Wheatley Group.
The area is part of a wider regeneration project covering the west of Scotland, with Dargavel Village one of the UK's largest brownfield development sites. BAE Systems is working closely with Renfrewshire Council to develop the 2,400-acre village, located on the site of a former Royal Ordnance Factory in Bishopton.
Construction begins in line with Public Health Scotland guidance, and stringent COVID safe operating procedures in place. The development comprises of one, two- and three-bedroom energy-efficient flats and houses to suit tenants of varying needs.
James Freel, Managing Director of Robertson Partnership Homes, said: "The redevelopment of Dargavel Village is a truly impressive feat and we're proud to contribute to what will be a shining new community in the west of Scotland.
"Although we're operating in challenging times, we do so with a commitment to protecting our employees, supply chain, customers and site neighbours throughout the pandemic and at a time when it's more important than ever that we continue to do all we can to assist the Scottish Government in reaching its target of 50,000 affordable homes by 2021.
"Recent investment in new modelling technology has allowed us to drive efficiencies in the pre-construction process by providing big-picture analysis for our sites. This in turn will help us to ensure we're delivering the highest quality build while still meeting the urgent provision of homes for people who need them the most."
David Fletcher, Wheatley Group's director of development, said: "We're looking forward to working with our partners at Renfrewshire Council to deliver these modern, spacious and energy-efficient new homes as part of the council's Strategic Housing Investment programme.
"We're delighted this project, which will provide much-needed affordable homes and make a big difference to the quality of life of the people who live in them, is being supported by Scottish Government grant funding."
As well as the 58 homes for Loretto Housing Association, Robertson Homes is also delivering 150 units for private sale as part of the Dargavel Village redevelopment, which, under a masterplan due to be completed by 2034, will see the completion of a business park, community centre, retail and commercial units, leisure facilities and a Community Woodland Park.
