Summary
Taking an active role in maintaining Aberdeen’s schools
Robertson Facilities Management provides total FM service (except catering), to ten schools in Aberdeen which are also used extensively for community and extended use which we fully support.
We adopt the principles of Eco-schools and regularly litter pick the school grounds, involving the pupils in this activity. This engenders good citizenship and respect for the environment.
We were specifically contacted to take over facilities management of these after the schools' contract provider went into administration. By working in partnership with tight timescales during the negotiation process we were able to ensure a seamless transfer of 52 employees and reduce the potential disruption to the service.
Services provided
Our caretakers take an active role in the schools and provide reactive and proactive cleaning in areas such as the entrance, dining hall and toilets improving the general environment. As well as cleaning, we offer various hard and soft FM services including:
- property and building maintenance;
- grounds and garden maintenance;
- ICT infrastructure;
- energy management;
- energy and utilities;
- security;
- caretaking and cleaning services;
- waste disposal;
- pest control.
Adapting to the requirements
The schools cover a wide geographical area which has provided a challenge on this project. This has led to the establishment of a maintenance team to service the northern Scottish region to support the contract managers. Offering better control and less reliance on external contractors creates better value for both our Facilities Management team and the end customer.
