Refurbishing services at a world-class packaging factory
Robertson Engineering Services refurbished M&E services for Crown, a world-leading packaging company. The factory, located in Newcastle, needed new mechanical and electrical services to support an equipment upgrade that would take their business to the next level.
We surveyed existing services within an ageing warehouse which was predominantly producing print onto plastic containers. With a growth in demand for metal containers and a slowing in demand for plastics, Crown invested in a new manufacturing plant and equipment as well as retaining one existing production line.
Robertson developed the design for the required M&E services in consultation with manufacturers of the new and existing equipment.
We provided gas, water, ventilation, compressed air and electricity supplies to power three industrial-scale printing machines. The machines were housed in the main building, which itself also required lighting, general power, sprinklers and make-up heating.
We also refurbished the services for the accommodation areas for Crown employees, comprising offices, toilets and eating areas. These areas required domestic hot and cold water services for the kitchens and toilets, as well as general ventilation, heating, sprinklers, lighting, power, data, CCTV and fire alarms.
This has enabled Crown to respond to market changes and produce new products for major supermarkets, food producers and whisky and gin distilleries.
