Major refurbishment of Tanfield category B office space in Scotland’s capital

Robertson is carrying out a major refurbishment of an existing office building in Edinburgh’s new town, to create a bright and attractive environment for our financial services customer’s workforce.

Located in the leafy Canonmills area of the capital, our team will be renovating and upgrading Dundas House, in a refurbishment that will provide much-needed modern office spaces to the area.

Key facts

  • 15,800m2 GIFA
  • Four storey refurbishment of the main building
  • Two storey refurbishment of grade B listed building

Protecting the old and upgrading to new

Refurbishing the building’s interior with high quality office facilities, the fit out includes a new kitchen, cafe, and restaurant area, along with upgraded changing rooms and washrooms, creating a dynamic and attractive working environment for our customer’s employees to work.

We are carrying out a part refurbishment of the building’s fabric including roof repairs, new revolving doors, glazing repairs, installing a new sprinkler system, and refurbishing the existing lifts, ensuring any alterations are in keeping with the building’s character, and only where necessary.

Once completed, the Brandon Street building will be home to a bright and modern new office location, providing an ideal working environment in a sought-after part of the city.

Operating in a live environment

Located in the beautiful and popular new town, the office refurbishment will be carried out near Edinburgh Academy and the busy thoroughfare of Henderson Row.

To reduce impact on the local community, we will be working on a tight site, which creates the challenge of limited space. Our teams have extensive experience of working in these environments, whether it be on live hospitals, universities, or schools.

By working with our customer and local stakeholders, we will develop a plan that reduces the impact on the local area while also giving our teams the space needed to deliver this exciting project.
