Summary
Bonded warehouses and infrastructure work
Between 2012 and 2020, Robertson has delivered over £70 million worth of bonded warehouses and infrastructure work across six phases for international premium drinks company Edrington.
With phase 7 underway and phase 8 to come, once it is complete, this project will have delivered:
- 16 warehouses in total;
- around £90m total value;
- and over a decade of partnership.
Our long-standing relationship is built on our understanding of the distillery sector and the quality we bring to each project. During this partnership, we also delivered The Macallan distillery and visitor experience, an iconic £140m project for Edrington.
Specialist warehouses for whisky
The eight phases range in value from £10m to £13m. Phase 7 is a £12.4m project due for completion in 2021, and like each phase of the project, it comprises:
- two 6,500 m2 bonded maturation warehouses,
- sprinkler fire protection system,
- racking to house up to 50,000 whisky casks.
Civil engineering and infrastructure for warehouses
In 2016–2017, in addition to two cask storage warehouses, we constructed a new tank farm, filling/disgorging store and an amenity building, as well as all associated civil and infrastructure works.
At the start of the project in 2012, Robertson also delivered significant work to create the infrastructure necessary to support the 16 warehouses that were to follow. This comprised:
- large site scrape,
- bulk excavation,
- 8,500 m² of concrete roads,
- 2,000 m of drainage pipes up to 4.5 m deep,
- and an extensive high voltage distribution network.
